World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth

November 07, 2017 by WarcraftDaily

World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth was announced at this year's BlizzCon.  This highly anticipated expansion set will explore the conflict between the Alliance and the Horde.  If you didn't watch the World of Warcraft: What's Next panel at BlizzCon, here's a brief overview of what's to come.

Two New Continents

  • Kul Tiras
    • This seafaring kingdom is the home of Jaina Proudmoore, and the launching point for the Alliance campaign.
    • You will start your adventure by unravelling a web of dark magic, corruption, and betrayal in one of three zones:
      • Tiragarde Sound
      • Drustvar
      • Stormsong Valley
  • Zandalar
    • This land of ancient evil awaits the many brave members of the Horde as they battle many crazed monsters.
    • Work your way through Zandalar by starting in one of three zones:
      • Zuldazar
      • Nazmir
      • Vol'dun

Recruit Allied Races

As you work your way to 120, you'll find many allies along the way.  Each of these six Allied Races will be available as playable characters once you reach 120.

  • For the Alliance
    • Lightforged Draenei
      • The Army of Light fought the forces of the Burning Legion throughout the Twisting Nether for thousands of years.
      • Those most committed to the long crusade undergo a ritual to become Lightforged.
      • These Lightforged Draenei, after completing their task on Argus, have set out on a new mission: Protect Azeroth
    • Void Elf
      • Although many who have tried to harness and control the corruptive Void have fallen to madness, these chosen few have displayed the strength to control the evil shadow forces of the Void.
      • Under the watchful eye of Alleria Windrunner, the Void Elves use their knowledge of the Void to defeat Azeroth's foes.
  • For the Horde
    • Highmountain Tauren
      • These Tauren, once descended from Huln, honor the spirits of earth, river, and sky.
      • Although the Legion sowed seeds of betrayal and distrust among them, the tribe of Highmountain stand united once more.
      • They will stand with their allies from Kalimdor and lend their strength and nobility to the mighty Horde
    • Nightborne
      • These elves, isolated behind a protective barrier for 10,000 years, grew dependent on the arcane magic of the Nightwell.
      • Although a deal made with the Burning Legion protected the Nighwell, it caused a Civil War to break out in the ancient city of Suramar.
      • After earning their freedom from the demons of the Burning Legion, the Nightborne seek allies in the Horde to help them reclaim their place in the world.

Plunder Uncharted Islands

Set sail for the previously undiscovered islands of Azeroth.  You and two other adventurers will race against rival intruders - or enemy players - to secure the island's resources for your faction.  Constantly evolving challenges await you, from the frozen islands off Northrend, to an abandoned Gilnean castle.
